LONDON, Ontario, Nov. 10 Over ten years ago, author Ute Lawrence was involved in a horrific 87-car highway pile-up -- the worst in Canadian history. In "The Power of Trauma" (published by iUniverse), Lawrence draws on her mind-altering experience to develop a new perspective on life that has actually empowered her.

"After the accident, I found a surprising lack of helpful and compassionate guidance and information about Post Traumatic Stress Disorder," Lawrence said. "I was inspired to write 'The Power of Trauma' to share my personal experience and the hope and healing I found with others."

In her first book, Lawrence will help those who have had life-changing traumatic events, along with their families, friends and colleagues to better understand PTSD and accept their symptoms. Any life-changing event from divorce to 9/11 to natural disasters can cause Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. But the list is endless and includes cancer survivors, military, policemen, firemen and childhood abuse victims as in any given year 7.7 million people are diagnosed with PTSD in the United States.

An inspiring presenter and sought-after speaker on the power of trauma and the power of discovery, Lawrence is the founder of the Performance Enhancement Centre and the visionary behind The Power of One Discovery series, a profoundly transformational program designed to build a new foundation for personal and professional growth. In 2006, she and her husband established the Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Association, an association that provides access to information about PTSD and a specific referral system lacking in many areas of medicine.
