SANTA MONICA, Calif., Dec. 15 Dakim, Inc. and Alzheimer's Weekly today announced the winners of the 'Give Thanks for Loved Ones' Brain Health Contest, designed to help five seniors in their fight to combat the symptoms of dementia and Alzheimer's disease. All five winners will receive a $2,500 Dakim BrainFitness System, the first product designed specifically to help seniors preserve their brain health and the most widely adopted product of its kind in senior living communities across the country.

The contest, held to coincide with both Thanksgiving and Alzheimer's Awareness Month, asked friends and family to nominate loved ones with the most compelling reasons to adopt a dementia-fighting routine.

The winners include a woman who was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's at 58 after seeing her mother lose a 13-year battle with the disease, another Alzheimer's sufferer who used to care for the elderly as a nursing assistant, a woman recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's who cries because she knows she is deteriorating, a man who started to show signs of dementia in 2003 when he could not find his brother's home, and a woman with four close relatives who suffered from dementia who is seeking strategies to avoid the same fate.
