20 Artists Sing for a Cause To Support Stefanie LaRue and Her Fight to Live



LOS ANGELES, Jan. 29 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Thirty-two year old breast cancer survivor Stefanie LaRue, known nationally as the "Breast Cancer Warrior" for her activism with young women diagnosed with breast cancer, is being honored at a benefit concert on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at the Skirball Cultural Center, located at 2701 N. Sepulveda Blvd., Los Angeles, CA. The event, entitled "Music of the Light," (musicofthelight.net) will showcase artists who are using music as their vehicle to make a difference in the world and are making music that at its core is oriented towards the "good and service" of all. Music of the Light is being held in honor of the inauguration of the Stefanie LaRue Advocacy Coalition (metooyoutoo.org), a non-profit organization focused on educating the medical and insurance communities, as well as the general public, about how Breast Cancer is often misdiagnosed in women under 40, and how women in this age group are uniquely affected by the disease. Tickets can be purchased by calling 323.251.4551 or online at musicofthelight.net. Ticket prices range from $25 - $250, and all proceeds benefit the Stefanie LaRue Advocacy Coalition.

Music of the Light, which centers on life, love, light and healing, begins at 7:00 p.m. and ends at 9:00 p.m. The show will be hosted by Gina Black and will feature 20 independent artist's music, as well as their own personal ideas about "good and service," what causes or charities they are involved in, or how they personally add to the "good" of this world through their music.

"I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic breast cancer, which means that it is advanced or life threatening, at only 30 years old," said vibrant Stefanie LaRue. "This diagnosis has changed my life, and it is now my mission to change others' lives and view of breast cancer. Cancer does not discriminate. The days of hearing 'you're too young to get breast cancer' are over, and I am living proof. I am alive to educate others, which is why I founded the Stefanie LaRue Advocacy Coalition. I am thrilled and honored to have the support of so many people for the upcoming benefit concert Music of the Light, and I hope to share with others the light that has been shed on me in the past two years."



Journey Circle is the founding sponsor of Music of the Light, and is doing so as a community service in conjunction with Executive Musical Producer, Gina Black, Executive Musical Director, Lou Forestieri, and Musical Director, Neill Chambers. About Stefanie LaRue: Stefanie LaRue was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic breast cancer at age 30. She was given one year to live. Two years later, LaRue is very much alive, emerging as a dedicated activist. She is focused on breast cancer prevention, early detection and education.
