BEDMINSTER TOWNSHIP, N.J., Aug. 9, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Organizers of last year's inaugural Timothy J. Piazza Memorial Foundation benefit, including a golf outing at Fiddler's Elbow Country Club, were pleasantly surprised when they raised more than $160,000 to help fund prosthetic devices for children in need, and scholarships for college-bound students from Hunterdon Central Regional High School (Tim's alma mater).  On Monday August 13th, when the sequel takes place at the same venue, nobody will be surprised to see the charity surpass last year's impressive performance, especially given the early response to golf sign ups (again have sold out all three courses) and the array of highly desirable donated auction items, including newly-autographed football helmets from top NFL draft picks – Penn State's Saquon Barkley (RB, NY Giants) and USC's Sam Darnold (QB, NY Jets).

Jim and Evelyn Piazza, Tim's parents, said, "The first year was such a great success we just weren't sure if it could be topped, but we're on pace to do just that because of the incredible amount of support we've received from all our great sponsors, our volunteers, and the community at large that so loved Tim and has embraced his vision." They added, "Every guest is special, and this year we are so fortunate to have join us Lamont Hannah, the first recipient of a prosthetic as a result of funds raised by our Foundation. The seven-year-old will be accompanied by his mother, who says she and her son have formed a very special bond with the Piazza family.

While Giant rookies will be well represented amid auction items, former players are also expected to be teeing it up for the cause. They include Ottis 'O.J.' Anderson, MVP of Super Bowl XXV (and NFL Rookie of the Year while with the Cardinals), ex-lineman Jim Burt, and former QB Scott Brunner.

Golfers are likely also to be interested in the numerous golf-related items on the auction block including tickets to the 2019 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach and threesomes at many of the region's and country's championship golf courses (including Baltusrol, Merion and Oakmont).  Bidding is now underway at www.liveliketim.org (search 'auction').

And for those who collect – or simply enjoy - original sports-themed artwork, renowned N.J.-based artist-illustrator James Fiorentino (www.jamesfiorentino.com) returns to the auction lineup with some of his classic works. Once again, highly prized sports ticket packages – including those for Phillies, and Yankees games – will be offered courtesy of event sponsors and supporters.

"Everyone associated with the Foundation is so grateful to our incredible team that is focused on Monday's event and then after resting for maybe a day or two, will be meeting to discuss next year, always thinking about what Tim would want to make life better for others," added Jim and Evelyn. Fiddlers Elbow C.C.  is located at 811 Rattlesnake Bridge Rd., Bedminster Township, NJ 07921.
