ORMOND BEACH, Fla., Sept. 27, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- GrowFL has announced that Germfree is among the winners of the
"The 50 honorees represent a diverse range of second-stage companies from 20 Florida counties," said Dr. Tom O'Neal, Executive Director of GrowFL. "While some of these businesses are fairly new, others are well-established. All demonstrate an entrepreneurial style that promotes steady growth. For example, Germfree is a Volusia County manufacturer that was established in 1962. Technological innovation and expansion into the biotech sector has allowed this company to grow and create jobs for their region."
Germfree is a global manufacturer of facilities and equipment for applications in healthcare, laboratory research, biotech and biopharma. The company recently launched BioGO, an advanced line of on-demand mobile and modular cleanrooms and lab space. BioGO will cultivate substantial growth in the biotech sector, especially as precision medicines such as cell and gene therapy continue to advance. Current and emerging markets drive the company's success as a major international exporter and employer in the region. Germfree is also recognized as a leading technological innovator in Florida.
"Germfree is honored to be recognized as one of the 2018 Florida Companies to Watch," said Kevin Kyle, President of Germfree. "Our product innovations, engineering expertise, and manufacturing excellence allow us to deliver high-tech cleanrooms and equipment to both domestic and international markets. Our growth path is enabled through focus on our customers and our people."
The company's continued growth has a considerable financial impact on the region. This includes the creation of highly valued jobs and the expansion into a 173,000 square foot facility.
"The City of Ormond Beach is proud to have Germfree in the community. Their commitment to innovation, quality, and to customer satisfaction propels them to lead the pack in their industry and sets the stage for future success," said Brian Rademacher, Economic Development Director, City of Ormond Beach.
"Germfree epitomizes the entrepreneurial spirit that is alive and well in Volusia County, and clearly demonstrates the potential for companies to succeed in our area when the leadership team has a commitment and a passion toward profitable growth over a sustained period of time", said Rob Ehrhardt, Volusia County's Economic Development Director. "Also, Germfree's rapid growth is based, in part, on the inclusion of an export component in their business plan - this investment over many years reflects a keen understanding of the fact that 95% of the global customer base lies outside the continental United States."
According to GrowFL, the 50 honorees generated nearly $1 billion in revenue and added nearly 1,000 jobs between 2014 and 2017. "This is a strong group of companies that deserve this special recognition given annually to the state's top second-stage companies," said Dr. Chris Morton, GrowFL Chairman and CEO of NanoPhotonica. Second-stage companies are defined as those with 6 to 150 full-time employees and between $750,000 and $100 million in annual revenue. There are many programs and incubators promoting start-up businesses; GrowFL is the only Florida program that focuses exclusively on second-stage companies. An awards ceremony will be held February 9th, 2019.
