The future

WHO has chosen five fields for the programme of immunization for children. Acute respiratory distress of viral origin, hepatitis A, poliomyelitis dengue, Japanese encephalitis, tuberculosis and encapsulated bacteria. Research is also being carried out to reduce the number of contacts required to immunize the child.

This consists of development of encapsulated vaccines for slow and controlled release, vaccines that are administered orally and vaccines obtained by genetic engineering and based on the use of live bacterial or viral vectors.
