Pitofenone hydrochloride present in the combination exerts papaverin-like spasmolytic effect on the vascular and extra-vascular smooth muscles of the stomach, intestines, urinary tract, biliary tract, and uterus.
As of 2005, any combined preparation containing a spasmolytic drug like pitofenone and metamizole must include a boxed warning that the use of the drug is not recommended in children and adolescents under the age of 18 years.
