How to Take Sulbutiamine and it's Dose


• Sulbutiamine comes as a tablet and should be taken by mouth. It is taken with food.
• The tablets should be taken with sufficient quantity of water and should not be crushed, chewed or broken to avoid the release of the medicine at a time.

Dosage & When it is to be taken

• The recommended minimal adult oral dose is 200mg daily.
• The adult dose can be increased to 400mg to 600mg daily when there are no side effects within 4-5 days.
• The maximum usual adult dose should not exceed above 600mg per day.
• However, in case of severe asthenic syndrome the daily dose of 600mg - 800 mg of sulbutiamine can be prescribed either as a single or in divided doses.

When it is not to be taken (Contraindications)

Sulbutiamine is not recommended in:

• Allergy to the drug
• Patients under 18 years of age
• Pregnant women, who should not take sulbutiamine because of the lack of safety data in fetus
