How to Take Sitagliptin-Metformin and it's Dose


It comes as a tablet and capsule to take by mouth, with food.

Dosage & When it is to be taken

Adult- PO- For Native Patients- The recommended starting dose is metformin 50 mg & sitagliptin/500 mg twice daily.
The starting dose in patients already treated with metformin should provide sitagliptin dosed as 50 mg twice daily (100 mg total daily dose) and the dose of metformin already being taken.

When it is not to be taken (Contraindications)

Contraindicated in patients with acute or chronic metabolic acidosis, including diabetic ketoacidosis, with or without coma, kidney impairment, stroke or recent heart attack, type 1 diabetes, and hypersensitivity.
