How to Take Phthalylsulfathiazole and it's Dose


Phthalylsulfathiazole should be taken with a glass of water.

Dosage & When it is to be taken

The recommended dose of phthalylsulfathiazole dose is

Adults:
Day 1: 1 g every 4 hours with a maximum dose of 6 g per day
Days 3-4: 1 g every 6 hours with a maximum dose of 4 g per day
Days 5-7: 1 g every 8 hours with a maximum dose of 3 g per day

Children under 3 years: 0.2 g per kilogram body weight every 8 hours
Children above 3 years: 0.4 to 0.75 g per kilogram body weight every 4 hours

When it is not to be taken (Contraindications)

Phthalylsulfathiazole is contraindicated in people who are allergic to the drug.

In addition, phthalylsulphathiazole should not be used in
• Patients with blood disorders
• Renal or hepatic failure
• Infants
