How to Take Ethinyl Estradiol and Levonorgestrel and it's Dose


It comes as a tablet to take by mouth once a day, with food or milk.

Dosage & When it is to be taken

Adult: PO- Monophasic combined OC: As tab containing levonorgestrel 100-250 mcg and ethinyl estradiol 20-50 mcg: 1 tab once daily. Triphasic combined OC: Levonorgestrel 50-125 mcg + ethinyl estradiol 30-40 mcg: 1 tab once daily.

When it is not to be taken (Contraindications)

Contraindicated in patients with undiagnosed vaginal bleeding, severe arterial disease, family history of high lipids; liver adenoma; inherited or acquired disorders of certain enzymes (porphyria); history of breast cancer; liver impairment; blood clot disorders; breast cancer; estrogen-dependent tumor; smoking, patients with diabetes complications; during pregnancy, migraine, high blood pressure, stroke ; gallstones; acute kidney failure (uremia) and a low platelet count, prior to major surgery; breast feeding during first 6 months after delivery.
