How to take Dimethyl Fumarate


How it should be taken  

It comes as a capsule to take by mouth, with or without food.

Dosage & When it is to be taken

PO- The recommended initial dose is 120 mg twice a day, for 7 days.

When it is not to be taken (Contraindications) 

Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity.

Why it is prescribed (Indications)  

This medication (first-line oral treatment) is the methyl ester of fumaric acid, prescribed for multiple sclerosis.  

Warnings and Precautions  

Caution should be exercised in patients with history of low white blood cell counts, any infection, any allergy, who are taking other medications, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Storage Conditions  

Store at 15C to 30C.
