Indication :


Lidocaine is a local anesthethetic , used as an antiarrhythmic drug.

Physiology :


This drug is used in therapy of ventricular arrthymias.

Normal Values :


1.5-5 µg/ml (6.4-21.4 µmol/L)

Critical Values :


> 6 µg/mL ( > 25.6 µmol/L)

Test Method :


Enzyme Immunoassay(EIA) , Gas liquid chromatography(GLC).

Side effects :


Adverse effects of lidocaine include confusion, respiratory depression, seizures, dizziness, drowsiness, low blood pressure, double vision, abnormal heart rhythms and respiratory arrest.
