â€¢ Most common:
Hair loss, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, headache, constipation, loss of appetite, convulsions, rash, weakness, diarrhea, weakness, fever, dizziness, abnormal coordination, viral infection, memory loss, and sleeplessness.
â€¢ Central Nervous System: Convulsions, dizziness, tingling, drowsiness, incoordination, confusion, anxiety, depression.
â€¢ Blood: Decrease in number of all blood cells.
â€¢ Endocrine: Adrenal hypercorticism.
â€¢ Gastrointestinal : Nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, abdominal pain, loss of appetite.
â€¢ Musculoskeletal : Muscle pain.
â€¢ Respiratory: Upper respiratory tract infection, inflammation of pharynx, sinusitis, coughing.
â€¢ Skin: Rash, itching.
â€¢ Genitourinary: Urinary tract infection, increased frequency.
â€¢ Eye: Double vision, vision abnormal.
The starting dose is 150 mg/m2 once daily for first 5 days in 28days cycle. It may be adjusted depending upon blood counts. Max: 200 mg/m2/day.
Metastatic melanoma: The dose is given in range of 150 â€“ 200mg/m2 once daily for first 5 days in 28days cycle, as a single therapy.
It comes as a capsule to take by mouth, should be taken on an empty stomach.
â€¢ Use a reliable method of birth control to prevent pregnancy. It may harm the fetus.
â€¢ It may increase your risk of developing a second cancer.Contact your doctor immediately.
â€¢ Monitor complete blood count, Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia (PCP) development regularly.
â€¢ Caution should be exercised in patients with history of liver or kidney disease, pregnancy, elderly greater than 70 yrs, children.
â€¢ It may cause dizziness or drowsiness. Do not drive a car or operate machinery while taking this medication.
Avoid using contaminated solution of this medication.
Oral: Store at 15-30Â°C. Store it at room temperature and away from excess heat and moisture.
