Pimozide(Orap) generic Pimodac is a tranquilizer, prescribed for tourette syndrome and resistant tics. It blocks the action of dopamine.

• Body as a Whole :
Headache.
• Gastrointestinal :
Dry mouth, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, constipation, belching, increased thirsty and appetite.
• Endocrine :
Menstrual disorder and breast secretions.
• Musculoskeletal :
Muscle cramps and muscle tightness.
• Central Nervous System :
Drowsiness, sedation, sleeplessness, dizziness, weakness, rigidity, speech disorder, handwriting change, depression, excitement and nervousness.
• Eye :
Visual disturbances, taste change, sensitivity to light and black spots.
• Genitourinary :
Impotence.
Child- Dose of 0.05 mg/kg once at bedtime. The dose may be increased every third day to a maximum of 0.2 mg/kg not to exceed 10 mg/day.
Adult- 0.2 mg/kg per day, or 10 mg/day. Doses greater than 0.2 mg/kg/day or 10 mg/day are not recommended.
It comes as a tablet to take by mouth, with or without food.
Contraindicated in patients with simple tics, who are taking pemoline, methylphenidate, amphetamines, celexa or lexapro, CNS depression and hypersensitivity.
• Caution should be exercised in patients with history of seizures, an abnormal electroencephalogram (EEG), neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS), alcohol abuse, or depression, irregular heart beat, heart, liver or kidney disease, enlarged prostate, increased eye pressure, low blood pressure, decrease in white blood cells, any allergy, who are taking other medications, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

It may cause drowsiness, dizziness or blurred vision, do not drive a car or operate machinery while taking this medication.

Avoid alcohol consumption.
Avoid excess dosage.
Store it at room temperature and in an airtight container.
