PO - Up to 1 g/day usually given with an Al-containing antacid.
Osmotic laxative 2.4-4.8 g/day in single or divided doses.

GI irritation, diarrhea, abdominal cramps and paralytic ileus.

It comes as a tablet and liquid to take by mouth, with or without food.

Hypersensitivity.

Caution should be exercised in patients with history of appendicitis, stomach pain, intestinal blockage, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, kidney problems, rectal bleeding, recent bowel surgery, any allergy, who are taking other medications, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

After administration, this medication usually causes bowel movement within 30 minutes to 6 hours, if it is not happening consult with your doctor.

Avoid excess dosage.

Store it as directed by your physician.
