Irritation, redness, or mild pain at the injection site.
â€¢ Miscellaneous : Fever, headache, chills, nausea, vomiting, constipation, nosebleed, bruising, slight blood in urine, skin necrosis (SC inj), osteoporosis, and hair loss.
Adult: IV- Loading dose: 5,000 u, then 1,000-2,000 u/hr.
It comes as a solution for injection to be administered by a healthcare provider into the vein.
Contraindicated in patients with uncontrolled active bleeding, unexplained bruising, or low blood platelets, uncontrolled high blood pressure, and hypersensitivity.
â€¢ Caution should be exercised in patients with history of heart problems, high blood pressure, menstrual problems, bleeding problems, ulcer, recent injury, blood disorder, liver or kidney disease, any allergy, who are taking other medications, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
â€¢ It may reduce platelet counts; avoid injury or bruising.
â€¢ ♦Patient may develop with increased risk of Heparin-induced Thrombocytopenia (HIT).
Avoid excess dosage.
