Adult- PO- The recommended dose is 250 mg twice daily.
IV- The recommended dose is >50 kg: 500 mg 3 times/day; <50 kg: 6-7 mg/kg 3 times/day.
Topical- As 2% ointment/cream/gel: Apply 3-4 times/day.
Most Common :
Jaundice, liver dysfunction, gastrointestinal disturbances and death of tissues.
Blood :
Vasoconstriction, vein inflammation and breakdown of red blood cells, low serum calcium levels in the blood.
Topical :
Rashes and irritation.
It comes as a cream and ointment to apply topically as directed by your physician.
It also comes as a power for injection (diluted with fluid), to be administered by a healthcare provider into the vein.
Hypersensitivity.
Caution should be exercised in patients with history of liver disease, newborns, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Monitor liver function regularly while taking this medication.
Avoid excess dosage.
Store it at room temperature.
