Fusidic acid(Fucidin Suspension) generic Fusibact is bacteriostatic antibiotic, prescribed for certain types of bacterial infection. It stops bacterial cell growth.

Side effects of Fusibact

   Most Common : Jaundice, liver dysfunction, gastrointestinal disturbances and death of tissues.

   Blood : Vasoconstriction, vein inflammation and breakdown of red blood cells, low serum calcium levels in the blood.

   Topical : Rashes and irritation.

Dosage & When it is to be taken (Indications)

Adult- PO- The recommended dose is 250 mg twice daily.
IV- The recommended dose is >50 kg: 500 mg 3 times/day; <50 kg: 6-7 mg/kg 3 times/day.
Topical- As 2% ointment/cream/gel: Apply 3-4 times/day.

How to use Fusibact?

It comes as a cream and ointment to apply topically as directed by your physician.
It also comes as a power for injection (diluted with fluid), to be administered by a healthcare provider into the vein.

When is Fusibact not to be taken? (Contraindications)

Hypersensitivity.

Warnings and Precautions for Fusibact

Caution should be exercised in patients with history of liver disease, newborns, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

• Monitor liver function regularly while taking this medication.

Other Precautions for Fusibact

Avoid excess dosage.

Storage Conditions for Fusibact

Store it at room temperature.
