Adult: 50 mg orally three times a day.
Child: 2 to 4 mg/kg/day divided every 12 to 24 hours (maximum daily dose = 15 mg).
Infants: 1 to 2 mg/kg/day (maximum 15 mg) in 1 to 2 divided doses.
Local:
Pain at injection site, pigmentation of skin, sterile abscess.
Systemic:
Fever, headache, joint pains, chest pain, flushing, palpitation, difficulty in breathing, anaphylactic reactions, lymph node enlargement.
Miscellaneous :
Stomach upset, nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, black or darker than normal appearing stools.
It comes as a tablet, syrup, and capsule to take by mouth without meal, three times a day.
Hypersensitivity.
Keep this medication out of the reach of children. An accidental overdose of iron for a child can lead to death.
Do not take this medication if you have too much iron builds, iron overload disorder, hemolytic anemia.
Avoid taking antacids within two hours while taking this medication.
Store it in room temperature and in an airtight container. Keep away from children.
