Dosage & When it is to be taken (Indications)

Initial – Adult- the recommended dose is 300 mg with ritonavir 100 mg once daily as single dose.
The recommended dose is 400 mg (without ritonavir) once daily.

How to use Virataz (300 mg)?

It comes as a capsule to take by mouth, with food.

When is Virataz (300 mg) not to be taken? (Contraindications)

It should not be co-administered with antimycobacterials, antineoplastics, benzodiazepines, ergot derivatives, GI Motility Agent, HMG-CoA Reductase Inhibitors, neuroleptic, PDE5 inhibitor and contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity.

Warnings and Precautions for Virataz (300 mg)

Caution should be exercised in patients with history of kidney problems or who are on dialysis, blood disorder, diabetes, heart problems or liver problems, any allergy, who are taking other medications, elderly, children, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

• It may cause dizziness or lightheadedness, do not drive a car or operate machinery while taking this medication.

• Avoid contact during the treatment period.

• It may raise blood sugar level; monitor blood sugar regularly while taking this medication.

Patient may develop kidney stones and/or gallstones ; if it is so consult with your healthcare provider immediately.

Other Precautions for Virataz (300 mg)

Monitor liver and heart functions, bilirubin levels and cholesterol levels regularly while taking this medication.

Storage Conditions for Virataz (300 mg)

Store it at room temperature (25° C), and in an airtight container. Keep away from children.
