â€¢ Body as a Whole :
â€¢ Gastrointestinal : Nausea, jaundice, vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhea.
â€¢ Central Nervous System : Sleeplessness, dizziness and nerve damage.
♦ â€¢ Skin : Rash and DRESS syndrome.
Initial â€“ Adult- the recommended dose is 300 mg with ritonavir 100 mg once daily as single dose.
The recommended dose is 400 mg (without ritonavir) once daily.
It comes as a capsule to take by mouth, with food.
It should not be co-administered with antimycobacterials, antineoplastics, benzodiazepines, ergot derivatives, GI Motility Agent, HMG-CoA Reductase Inhibitors, neuroleptic, PDE5 inhibitor and contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity.
â€¢ Caution should be exercised in patients with history of kidney problems or who are on dialysis, blood disorder, diabetes, heart problems or liver problems, any allergy, who are taking other medications, elderly, children, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
â€¢ It may cause dizziness or lightheadedness, do not drive a car or operate machinery while taking this medication.
â€¢ Avoid contact during the treatment period.
â€¢ It may raise blood sugar level; monitor blood sugar regularly while taking this medication.
â€¢ ♦ Patient may develop kidney stones and/or gallstones ; if it is so consult with your healthcare provider immediately.
Monitor liver and heart functions, bilirubin levels and cholesterol levels regularly while taking this medication.
