Anastrozole(rimidex) generic Anastrocare (1 mg) is a non-steroidal inhibitor used with other treatments, such as surgery or radiation, to treat early breast cancer in women who have experienced menopause. Anastrocare (1 mg) is also used in women, who have experienced menopause, as a first treatment of breast cancer that has spread within the breast or to other areas of the body. It is also used to treat breast cancer in women whose breast cancer has worsened after taking tamoxifen (Nolvadex).

• Heart:
Widening of blood vessels, hypertension, sudden cardiac death, blood clot in veins and insufficient blood supply to brain.
• Central Nervous System:
Lack of energy, mood disturbances, headache, depression, sleeplessness, dizziness, fainting, abnormal sensations, anxiety, increased tightness of muscle, slurred speech and fatigue.
• Skin:
Rash, sweating, redness of the skin, pain, burning, or tingling in the hands or feet, mucous membrane infection, hair thinning.
• Eye and ENT:
Inflammation of pharynx, difficulty swallowing or breathing, persistent cough and clouding of eye lenses.
• Gastrointestinal:
Stomach disturbances, nausea, loss of appetite, vomiting, abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, indigestion, gastrointestinal disorder and dry mouth.
• Genitourinary:
Breast pain, urinary tract infection, inflammation of vagina, breast neoplasm, vaginal bleeding, whitish or yellowish vaginal discharge and vaginal dryness.
• Blood-Lymphatic:
Lymph nodes swelling, decrease in hemoglobin, and white blood cells.
• Liver:
Increased level of liver enzymes and jaundice.
• Hypersensitivity:
Allergic reactions including hypersensitivity reaction, rapid swelling of the dermis and skin rash.
• Metabolic-Nutritional:
Edema, high blood cholesterol, increased levels of alkaline phosphatases and weight loss.
• Musculoskeletal:
Inflammation of joints, joint pain, back pain, bone pain, an increased risk of fracture, pelvic pain and muscle pain.
• Respiratory:Difficulty in breathing, increased cough, sinus or sinusitis and inflammation of bronchus.
• Miscellaneous:
Bone weakness, hot flashes, pain, accidental injury, infection, chest pain, flu syndrome, cyst, neoplasm and tumor flare.
Adjuvant treatment in early breast cancer; Advanced or locally advanced breast cancer in postmenopausal women: 1 mg/day.
This medication is available in the form of tablets to take by mouth once a day, with or without food.
Contraindicated in pregnant women, premenopausal women, patients who are experienced with hypersensitivity to any components.
• Caution should be exercised in patients with history of moderate or severe liver impairment, excess fat, children.

Be sure to mention any of the following: medications that contain estrogen such as hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and hormonal contraceptives (birth control pills, patches, rings, and injections); raloxifene (Evista); and tamoxifen (Nolvadex) before starting therapy with Anastrozole.

It may cause dizziness. Do not drive a car or operate machinery while driving this medication.
•
Avoid alcohol consumption.
•
Do the lab test for menopause if status is doubtful.
•
Bone mass density (bone mineral density) test should be conducted at the start of the therapy and at regular intervals thereafter.
Monitor cholesterol levels and bone mineral density periodically.
Oral: Store at 20-25°C. Store it in airtight container.
