â€¢ The side-effects of adenosylcobalamin may include the following:
â€¢ General: Fever, low blood potassium levels
â€¢ Allergic reaction: Rash, itching, swelling under the skin, possible anaphylactic shock
â€¢ Digestive tract: Mild transient diarrhea, nausea, vomiting
â€¢ Nervous system: Tingling and numbness, headache, dizziness
â€¢ Blood: Polycythemia vera (increased production of red blood cells by the bone marrow)
â€¢ Heart: Congestive heart failure, low blood pressure, fluid accumulation in the lungs
â€¢ Eyes: Vision problems
â€¢ The recommended dose for adenosylcobalamin varies depending on the patientâ€™s physiological condition and whether it is used for preventive purpose or for treatment of vitamin B12 deficiency.
â€¢ Adenosylcobalamin should be taken orally before or after food intake.
â€¢ It is usually available as a combination with other supplements.
â€¢ Lozenges or sublingual tablets should be allowed to dissolve in the mouth.
â€¢ Allergic to adenosylcobalamin .
â€¢ Patients with intestinal disorders, vitamin B12 malabsorption syndrome, and surgical removal of intestinal organs may not be able to absorb adenosylcobalamin.
â€¢ Blood tests may be advised before and after a few months of treatment to document a good response to treatment.
