Why is Phenacemide Prescribed? (Indications)

This medication is an anticonvulsant, prescribed for preventing or controlling seizures.

When should Phenacemide not be taken? (Contraindications)

Avoid frequent use of this medication.
Ordinarily phenacemide should not be administered unless other available antiepileptics have been found to be ineffective in controlling seizures.

What is the dosage of Phenacemide?

PO- usual starting dose is 1.5 g daily, administered in three divided doses of 500 mg each.

It comes as a tablet to take by mouth, with food.
