Why is Miglustat Prescribed? (Indications)

This medication is an enzyme inhibitor, prescribed for Gaucher disease. It prevents the body from producing the fatty substances.

When should Miglustat not be taken? (Contraindications)

Contraindicated in pregnant women, and known hypersensitivity.

What is the dosage of Miglustat?

PO- The recommended dose is one 100 mg capsule three times a day at regular intervals.

How should Miglustat be taken?

It comes as a capsule to take by mouth, with or without food and with plenty of water up to three times a day.

What are the warnings and precautions for Miglustat?

• Caution should be exercised in patients with history of a sensation of numbness or tingling, stomach problems (e.g., inflammatory bowel disease), hand tremors, kidney impairment, who are taking other medications, any allergy, children, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

• It may cause dizziness, do not drive a car or operate machinery while taking this medication.

• Avoid alcohol consumption.
