Why is Abiraterone Acetate Prescribed? (Indications)

Abiraterone acetate is used along with prednisolone (corticosteroid) for treating a type of prostate cancer called metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) previously called hormone-resistant cancer.

It works by blocking the effects of testosterone in the body and suppresses the cancer growth.

When should Abiraterone Acetate not be taken? (Contraindications)

Contraindicated in pregnant women and patients with hypersensitivity.

What is the dosage of Abiraterone Acetate?

Adult- PO- The recommended dose is 1000mg once daily with prednisone 5mg twice daily.

It comes as a tablet to take by mouth, on an empty stomach.
