Test : Lactate dehydrogenase


Indications : To diagonise heart atttack, anemia, liver disease, tissue changes.

Physiology : Present in all cells of the tissues especially heart, liver, lungs, kidney, red blood cells. It converts lactic acid to pyruvic acid an important step for production of energy.

Normal Range : 45-90U/L.

Interpretation : High values may be due to myocardial infarction, infectious mononucleosis, cell damage, trauma, muscle injury.
