Method
- To prepare tamarind rice (Puliyodanam), first a spicy paste of tamarind (Pulikaachal) has to be preparedAdvertisement
- Preparation of Pulikaachal-
- Soak tamarind in the warm water
- Squeeze the tamarind juice into a thick consistency
- Add turmeric powder, salt and roasted red chilly in it
- Season mustard, fenugreek and asafetida using sesame oil
- Add the tamarind paste into the seasoning
- After it starts boiling, add roasted and peeled ground nuts
- Then stir it continuously till it acquires a paste- like consistency
- Towards the end, add roasted coriander powder to it and mix wellAdvertisement
- Now take the cooked rice in a wide- mouthed bowl
- Add 1 spoon of sesame oil
- Add 2 - 3 spoons of Pulikaachal to the rice
- Mix them well and serve
