English name: Finger millet
Botanical name: Eleusine coracana
Sanskrit: Madhuli
Hindi name: Madua or mangal
Tamil name: Ragi
 

Ingredients:

Ragi flour  – 2 cups
Onion       – 1 chopped
Sesame oil – 10 ml
Rock salt Water – sufficient quantity

Preparation  

  1. Add two pinches of salt to the ragi flour and mix.
  2. Add chopped & fried onion
  3. Gradually add warm water to the flour and knead the dough.
  4. Keep it aside for ½ an hour
  5. Divide the dough into small balls.
  6. Flatten the balls one by one into thin chapattis with your hands on a smooth surface. Use little oil to prevent sticking.
  7. Roast the chapatti on a heated mud pan
  8. Add a spoon of sesame oil around the corners and roast it evenly on both sides.
