  The Lungs

Lungs are situated in the upper thoracic cavity and they are the organs of respiration. We have two lungs that are separated from each other by the heart, blood vessels and air tubes. The right lung has three lobes. The left lung has two lobes. Each lung has a base and apex. The apex is situated near the root of the neck; while the base is connected to the diaphragm, septum and the wall between the throat and abdomen. Practice of pranayama develops the lungs.
