Prevent DVT

  Text

Sitting for long periods in a cramped seat can result in the pooling of blood, especially in the legs. This may cause a clot in a deep vein in the leg-the condition is aptly called deep vein thrombosis or DVT. In some cases, the clot may travel up and lodge in the internal organs such as the lung or heart. This could have serious implications and may even be fatal. Simple precautions can help prevent DVT. Some of these include walking around the cabin, especially during flights lasting over four hours, wearing loose clothes and doing simple travel exercises particularly for the calf muscles.
