A 12-hour gap must ensue before a professional diver flies in an airplane; otherwise there is the possibility of succumbing to ‘decompression sickness’ or ‘the bends.’ In fact, if the diver has undertaken multiple dives, a 24-hour gap is strongly advised. Other people who dive for fun should consult an expert in the field before taking a flight.
