• The
skin is opened in areas thagt is likely to be invisible for scars. It streteches from a line from the hairline in the temple, down in front of the ear and then circumventing round the ear and finally going down the neck.

After undermining the skin (i.e lifting up the skin from the tissues below) the muscles and tissues are tightened and any excess skin is trimmed off before the skin is stitched back into place. Clips or tapes may be used instead of stitches to seal the skin incision.
Modifications of this procedure include the modified face lift, mini face lift, S lift and so on which are limited in their incisions and deal with only smaller sections of the face. These vary in that limited areas of the face are treated rather than the entire face as in a traditional face-lift. Therefore the results also may not compare with that of a conventional face-lift.
In vogue currently is an endoscopic face lift which is a less invasive method of the operation.. This can be done under local anesthesia alone.
The surgeon may also add a bit of liposuction to certain areas to complement the effects of the operation.
Resurfacing of the skin by other methods like laser, botox injections into wrinkles can be added on to a surgical face-lift for enhanced rejuvenation.
Healing and Recovery The stitches, if used will be removed after the 5th day and one has to take rest for at least two weeks for adequate healing and recovery to take place.
