The testis is one of the major component of the male reproductive system and are comaparable to the ovaries in the female. The testis is responsible for production of sperms and the male sex hormone-testosterone. The testis consists of many different cell types and cancer can arise from any of these. Testicular cancer accounts for only 1 % of all cancers in men. However, it is the most common cancer to be diagnosed in men aged 15 to 34. The incidence of testicular cancer is very low in Asian men. In most of the cases, there is a painless swelling on the affected side accompanied by a feeling of heaviness or discomfort.Self examination plays a very important role in the early identification of testicular cancer. It becomes very important to diagnose testicular cancer because more than 70% of cancers can be effectively treated if diagnosed early. Surgery, radiotherapy or chemotherapy either alone or in combination can be used in treatment of the same.
