About

The ‘Zone Diet’ is a diet program with a ‘40:30:30’ plan for carbohydrates, fats and proteins respectively. Along with weight loss, the other health benefits of Zone Diet include improved health, greater energy and better mental clarity.

The Zone Diet helps lose fat and increases wellness by reducing cellular inflammation that is the underlying cause of weight gain, acceleration of chronic disease, and also the reason behind decreased physical, emotional, and mental performance. The catch phrase of the Zone Diet is that it uses food as the drug for ailments..

Zone Diet was developed by Dr. Barry Sears. He studied the hormonal effects of food and their effect on cellular inflammation. The diet has plenty of celebrity affiliations with Madonna, Demi Moore and Jennifer Aniston swearing by the results of this diet plan. Therefore, this diet has turned many heads in the world.

The Zone Diet aims at eating foods, which control the body’s insulin production. This means that that the dieter can lose weight without having to skip any meal or snack. Instead the dieters have to keep a close watch on the calorie consumption while eating - a meal should not exceed 500 calories and a snack should not exceed 100 calories.

The Zone Diet encourages eating foods such as fresh vegetables, fruits, leafy green vegetables, sufficient proteins, monounsaturated fats and eight glasses of water daily.
