a. Who treats Nocturnal Sleep-Related Eating Disorder (NS-RED)? A sleep specialist treats Nocturnal Sleep-Related Eating Disorder (NS-RED). b. How can people eat and not remember doing so? It appears that parts of their brains are truly asleep, and, at the same time, other parts are awake. The parts that regulate waking or consciousness are asleep, so the next day there are no memories of eating the night before. c. If a person is asleep how can he differentiate between edible and non-edible food? Habitually the person may go to a place where edible food is stored. Food consumed by sleep eaters tends to be either high sugar or high fat. Consumption of odd combinations of foods have also been reported. An unusual victim was witnessed eating soap as if it were a slice of cheese. |

Posted on: 09/28/2011 I have been sleep eating for years and want help. I have gone to my doctor and he did not take serously. He did give me some sleeping pill. The pill made it worse.
I would like to know what others are doing for help with this disorder.
Thank you
