Mouth Ulcers - Primary Herpes

RSS Feeds   Text
Primary herpes could occur any time after the age of six months, once the protection of the mother's antibodies wears out. However, Primary Herpes by and large afflicts adults and rarely children. The main symptoms are fever, irritability, swelling in and
around the lymph nodes present around the mouth, and pain in swallowing. Within 48 hours, yellow fluid-filled boils develop in the mouth. These are extremely painful and sometimes involve the gums as well. In case of an acute infection, the gums could become intensely reddish. Sometimes the lips, cheeks, tongue and the throat are also affected, making the patient extremely uncomfortable. Soon after their appearance, the yellow boils burst and become covered with a grayish membrane, accentuating the pain to a further degree.
