All the prospective Poirots, Holmes, Hardy boys and Nancy Drews pay attention. Low carb diets are here to tantalise your grey cells and provide with the much desired exercise for the brain! Atkins diet, south beach diet, zone diet and the likes all work on the low carb principle. Restriction of carbohydrates and inclusion of high protein and fat foods is the mantra. Sound simple but try letting go off those lovely fruits and vegetables, bakery stuff, rive, wheat, breakfast cereals, pasta. the list goes on! Sparing you the torture of the ordeal to follow I will stop listing the various carb foods. Low carb diets are the order of the day. Carbohydrates which were the main nutrient in the diets comprising abut 60-70% of the total calories ingested have been reduced to either negligible or none at all. |

Posted on: 11/23/2010 Yes, it is true that [except for clever cooks who are good with spices and food combinations], the Atkins (low-carb) diet is very boring.
But consider these points:
* Those who need to eat a lot can eat lots of very high protein foods with no problem and no hunger!
* For most people, no more worries about weight gain, diabetes, or lipid imbalances that can lead to death from circulatory and cardiac illnesses.
* More energy, better sleep, and less depression for many, especially when combined with regular meditation and exercise.
You decide.
