You should see a general practitioner, However if Leucopenia is recurrent see a Haematologist. 2. Should I visit a doctor regularly once it is detected that I have leucopenia? Yes. Frequent visits are advised till the blood count returns to normal. 3. Will I be more prone to fungal infections, if I have leucopenia? Yes. That’s because of decreased white blood cells, which have the ability to fight diseases. So the patient is more prone to fungal infections and other opportunistic infections. 4. Apart from blood culture is there any other way to isolate infection in such patients? Yes. Throat swabs, sputum, urine, and culture from any suspicious site can be useful. |
