Dear armit I am not an MD doctor (Physician) but a PhD one. I am a mosquito expert, which means that I advise people before they got bitten. After the bite, especially if you feel sick, go see a physician. Dr Gil Stav Mosquito ecologist

The probability to transfer Chikungunya these days is more than nothing. The disease [the virus] can be found and infected by throughout southern Asia and central and southern Africa (According to the UN World Health Organization – WHO)
Furthermore, the mosquitoes that can easily transfer Chikungunya, the Asian tiger mosquito, invaded to many new countries and demonstrated ability to be a vector of Chikungunya in newly invaded countries (e.g. Italy, summer 2007).
Are you returning to your country from southern Asia or Africa?
Have you been bitten by mosquitoes shortly prior to your flight?
My advice for you is get check for Chikungunya, especially if you live in an Asian tiger mosquito infected area. Don't spread the disease in your homeland.

what diet one should take which may help in curying ckikungunya? and what one should avoid? Apart from medicine. Uttam chand

I think that for patients, the information given is clear and complete; in very few words I can tell you that Chikungunya is self limiting disease, usually without serious complication except in people with low Inmunitary System, alcohol and drugs addicts. The most important measure to avoid spreading of the disease is to control the population of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, [see the picture on the overview] in our localities. The only chronic complications are the post viral syndrome, and the chronic joint pain usually in older peoples.
