What are the danger signs or alarm signals of indigestion or dyspepsia?As already mentioned less than 2% of the cases of indigestion are due to cancers. An early diagnosis of serious conditions causing indigestion is important. You are advised to consult a doctor if you have any of these complaints:

Frequent vomiting or if the vomit contains blood

Loss of weight

Loss of appetite

Black tarry stools

Difficulty or pain during swallowing

Abdominal pain in parts other than the epigastrium (i.e. upper abdomen, between the lower end of chest bone and the navel)

Indigestion associated with symptoms like shortness of breath, sweating, or pain that radiates to the jaw, neck, or arm

Yellowing of the skin and the whites of the eyes (jaundice)

Indigestion that has persisted for more than 2 weeks
