Signs or Alarm Signals of Indigestion or dyspepsia

What are the danger signs or alarm signals of indigestion or dyspepsia?

As already mentioned less than 2% of the cases of indigestion are due to cancers. An early diagnosis of serious conditions causing indigestion is important. You are advised to consult a doctor if you have any of these complaints:

Alarming Signals of Indigestion
  • Abdominal pain in parts other than the epigastrium (i.e. upper abdomen, between the lower end of chest bone and the navel)
  • Indigestion associated with symptoms like shortness of breath, sweating, or pain that radiates to the jaw, neck, or arm
  • Yellowing of the skin and the whites of the eyes (jaundice)
  • Indigestion that has persisted for more than 2 weeks
