What kind of vaccine is Hib Vaccine?

Hib vaccine is an inactivated vaccine. The Hib conjugate vaccine is made chemically by bonding a polysaccharide (sugar) to a protein. The sugar is one that makes up the surface capsule of the bacterium. Hib-polysaccharide conjugate to diphtheria toxoid (PRP-D), a diphtheria toxoid-like protein (PRP-HbOC), tetanus toxoid (PRP-T), or meningococcal outer membrane protein (PRP-OMP) are also available.
