Headache maybe the the fisrt presenting symptom in certain pathological conditions of the brain. If the headaches in a person are persistent the doctor may hence want to rule out such a pathology by undertaking a CT scan of the brain. Some of the diseases that cause secondary headaches include- • Brain tumors, • Subdural hematomas • Epidural hematomas • Subarachnoid hemorrhages • Severe increase in blood pressure • Stroke • Bacterial Infections (meningitis, Lyme disease, tuberculosis) • Anemia • Inflammation • Infections of ear, teeth or sinus • Glaucoma • Parkinson’s disease • Cardiac ischemia • Carbon monoxide poisoning• Certain medications |
