Fertilization and Implantation: From the time of conception to 17 days. The growing embryo is not susceptible to the teratogen in the first 2 weeks of pregnancy. The effect usually manifests itself as failure of pregnancy that often goes unnoticed in most of the cases. Embryonic period: 18 days to 55 days of gestation.
