Symptoms and Signs of Chikungunya

The incubation period of chikungunya is usually 1-12 days. This means the disease manifests 1 to 12 days after the mosquito bite. The symptoms of chikungunya include the following-

Fever (> 40 C / 104 F)

Headache

Joint pain (or arthralgia)

Arthritis affecting multiple joints that can be debilitating

Swelling of Joints

Rash (may occur rarely)

Sometimes there maybe infection of the conjunctiva of the eye and some photophobia

Chills

Nausea

Vomiting

Bleeding or hemorrhage (may occur rarely).

Study suggests that most patients recover fully from chikungunya. They get better after a few days, however sometimes joint pain can persist for a longer period after the other symptoms have disappeared. Over 12% of patients tend to develop chronic joint symptoms.

I am pregnant an I have caught the chikungunya virus. I took panadol 500 every 6 hours an the pain had subside. Now I'm having rash. How long does this last an can it affect my unborn child.

is it true that chikungunya virus is worst than dengue? i just need your opinion base on your knowledge for my paper work in school. thanks

how many days before you fully healed from chikungunya? I had it 7 days already....

I had Chikungunya. I just take loads of Vitamins C and Vitamin B or Multi Vitamins. When i feel the pain I take parecetamol or Advil. Take that build your immune system.
