The Cabbage Soup Diet plan is very strict. The idea is to eat as much cabbage soup every day - enough to keep the stomach full. Also specific additional foods can be had on each day of the seven day diet. No alcohol is allowed and other drinks are limited to water, and unsweetened fruit juice on days when fruit is allowed.

Day 1 : Cabbage soup + as much fruit as liked, excluding bananas.
Day 2 : Cabbage soup + vegetables including 1 jacket potato with a little butter.
Day 3 : Cabbage soup + fruit and vegetables excluding potatoes and bananas.
Day 4 : Cabbage soup + up to eight bananas + as much skimmed milk as desired.
Day 5 : Cabbage soup + up to 20 ounces of beef and up to six tomatoes. (if desired substitute broiled fish for the beef )
Day 6 : Cabbage soup + as much beef (if desired substitute chicken or fish for beef) + vegetables (excluding potatoes).
Day 7 : Cabbage soup + brown rice + vegetables (excluding potatoes) + unsweetened fruit juice .

Cabbage is wonderfully high in nutrients, and could be considered the queen of vegetables. It's high in calcium and vitamin C in a very digestible form, as well as photo-nutrients that help prevent dementia and cancer. While the classic Cabbage Soup diet isn't the best thing to eat three times a day, Cabbage is a wonderful staple in any diet - especially if you are trying to lose weight, as it is so low in calories, and just packed with good food value.

I would suggest that instead of using cabbage as the meal that you substitute it for snacks and perhaps one meal each day. I lost 20 pounds in one month in this way. And it was not water weight. I was also working out at least 3 days per week.
