Side effects or Adverse Effects of Birth Control Pills / Oral Contraceptive Pills

The Birth Control Pill is extremely safe and effective but some women experience the following side or adverse effects in the initial stage, which fades away eventually over a period of three months.

Bullet Nausea

Bullet Weight gain

Bullet Headaches, dizziness

Bullet Tenderness of the breast

Bullet Spotting may occur especially with pills containing progestin only

Bullet Mood swings

Bullet Blood clots within blood vessels (especially seen in women who are above 35 yrs of age and are in the habit of smoking)

Bullet Dark Spotty pigmentation of the skin
