Excessive alcohol use can severely affect the health of a person leading to long-term complications, which may be fatal.
Excessive alcohol use can cause severe health complications such as the following-

Addiction.

Alcohol intoxications.

Amnesia or ‘blackouts’ that last from a few minutes to a few days.

Diet -

  • Many serious complications arise out of the vitamin and mineral deficiencies due to neglect of proper diet.
In women -

  • Menstruation.
  • An increased risk of miscarriage.
  • Premature birth.
In Newborn.

  • It can cause fetal alcohol syndrome.
  • Birth defects.
  • Developmental disabilities.
In males

  • Impotency.
  • Erectile dysfunctions.
Heart Problems.

  • Weakening of the muscles of the heart, which in turn leads to a decreased pumping action of the heart.
  • Hypertension.
  • Heart failure.
  • Stroke.
Gastrointestinal problems.

  • Decreased Absorption and metabolism of vitamins and minerals.
  • Inflammation of the Stomach.
  • Damage to the pancreas.

Permanent damage to brain cells and rupture of veins

Increased risk of the development of the following cancers.

  • Esophagus.
  • Larynx.
  • Liver.
  • Colon.
Liver disorders.

  • Alcohol hepatitis. (Inflammation)
  • Cirrhosis of the liver.
  • Scarring and death of liver.
Bone Defects.
  • Interference with the production of new bones.
  • Thinning of bones.
  • Increased risks for fractures.
Neuropsychiatric complications.

  • Werncke's Encephelopathy.
  • Koraskoff's psychosis.
  • Alcohol dementia.
  • Cerebellar degeneration.
  • Peripheral neuropathy.
  • Central pontine myelinosis.
Acts as a common contributing factor in-

  • Auto accidents.
  • Injuries.
  • Fire deaths.
  • Drowning.
  • Suicide.
  • Family problems, such as divorce.
  • Poor performance at school, collages, or at work.
  • Financial difficulties.
  • Child abuse.
  • Crime.
  • Murder.

Study says that increasing increasing number of alcohol outlet encourage violence.It means that alcohol makes no good not only for the body,but for the society as well.
