Infections of the urinary tract are common. Urinary tract
infections (UTI's) are caused by bacteria that invade the urinary system and multiply, leading to an infection. Women are affected more than men. The urinary system consists of the kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra. The key elements in the system are the kidneys, a pair of purplish-brown organs located below the ribs toward the middle of the back. The kidneys remove liquid waste from the blood in the form of urine, keep a stable balance of salts and other substances in the blood, and produce a hormone that aids the formation of red blood cells. Narrow tubes called ureters carry urine from the kidneys to the bladder, a triangle-shaped chamber in the lower abdomen. Urine is stored in the bladder and emptied through the urethra. There are three types of urinary tract infections:  Urethritis is infection of the urethra Cystitis is infection of the bladder Pyelonephritis occurs when bacteria ascend up the ureters and infect the kidneys. |

Posted on: 03/05/2012 I am 31 and have had 5-6 UTI's in the past 6 months. The first, second and third times they did a urine test and it showed UTI. Never had one before, am very clean and am not sexually active. Now I have seen a urologist and am waiting 3-4 weeks to get tests done. I have abdominal pain especially in lower left side, back pain, discomfort when peeing but not burning, and blood in urine. Can you tell me what it may be. I think I may have ovarian cysts or something. Any help would be appreciated.

Posted on: 11/07/2008 We should not ignore Urinary Tractinfection if it increases if affects kidney. we should drink lot of water during the day and should have check on our urinary pattern everyday. few years back when I got minor infection I consulted Dr. Manu Sobti in Hindusabha hospital Ghatkopar. He is realy fantastic doctor he thoroughly checked me even it was minor infection and I got relief permanently since then I advise all my friends to take care of urine infection I advise them to take treatment from Dr. sobti.

Posted on: 10/07/2007 Children urinary tract infection symptoms can be easy overlooked and treated as some other disorder. Urinary tract infection should be considered when a child or infant seems irritable, has an unexpected fever that doesnt go away,is not eating normally, has incontinence or loose bowels, or is not thriving. Children are more likely to have only fever and no other symptoms. You should thake children to a doctor if you notice change in urinary pattern.
