Research has thrown light on the correlation between melatonin and the risk of developing breast and prostate cancer. It has been found that the absence of adequate melatonin stimulates the growth of potential cancer cells in both men and women.

Melatonin has also been linked with better effectiveness of chemotherapy and also with averting thrombocytopenia, ie the fall in platelet count, in cancer patients. Certain studies have additionally pointed to a reduction in the size of tumors when patients have been prescribed melatonin supplements.

Certain experts have also asserted that exposure to low-frequency electromagnetic fields (EMFs) can warp the melatonin production in the body. EMFs are more common than you would imagine. The combined effect of the EMFs of most household appliances is very damaging to health.

Cachexia, a condition characterized by loss of weight, loss of appetite, fatigue, weakness and muscular atrophy, is commonly associated with chronic ailments such as cancer, TB, AIDS and COPD.

Cachexia results due to disruption of the body’s natural biochemical processes, causing psychological distress, weight loss and loss of appetite, and significant decline in the quality of life. Hormone supplements, especially melatonin supplements, have in innumerable cases, been able to normalize these processes again.
